Team
Our multi-disciplinary investment team compromises individuals
who have complementary backgrounds in fields such as project
lending and development, engineering, accounting, corporate finance
and law. Members of the investment team have completed over €3
billion of transactions in the renewable energy and related sectors
(the "New Energy Sector") involving assets in over a dozen
countries worldwide. The team has a wide range of contacts
throughout the New Energy Sector and broad experience of New Energy
Sector transactions across Europe and North America.
The investment team draws on the extensive experience of the
Investment Committee members, which in addition to Peter Rossbach
and Daniel von Preyss comprises Chairman Ian Simm, Impax's Chief
Executive with more than 20 years experience in renewable energy,
and Nigel Taunt who brings more than 30 years of relevant
experience.

Peter joined Impax in May 2003 and has driven the creation
of all elements of the NEF I portfolio whilst heading the Impax NEF
team. Peter has been involved in the financing of energy projects
since 1983. He started his career with the renewables division of
the US Department of Energy in 1980 before working as aide for
energy and environment to US Senator Jim Sasser. After working in
the natural gas sector in 1984-1985 Peter obtained his credit
background as a utility and energy project debt analyst with
Standard & Poor's in 1985-1986. He has worked in each tier of
the capital structure, having spent three years with the American
developer Catalyst Energy and its affiliates developing and
financing over 650 MW ($1 billion) of New Energy Sector projects
and five years as senior lender to New Energy Sector and other
energy projects as Vice President of Project Finance for Mitsui
Bank. In the 1990s, Peter was appointed by the US Government to be
Senior Investment Adviser to the European Bank for Reconstruction
and Development, where he established a private equity fund for
environmental infrastructure in Eastern Europe. From 1997-2000 he
was Senior Investment Officer of the Asian Mezzanine Infrastructure
Fund, a power and infrastructure mezzanine and equity investment
fund that made successful investments in the New Energy Sector.
Peter is a member of the Cleantech study group of the British
Venture Capital Association and a former non-executive
director of Coronation Power Limited. He has a BA from Harvard
College and a Masters degree from Harvard's Kennedy School of
Government, where he studied Utility Regulation and
Finance.
Managing DirectorDaniel von PreyssView details

Daniel has significant business and senior transactional
experience with blue chip companies within the energy and utility
sectors. Prior to joining Impax he was responsible for Babcock
& Brown's Northern European infrastructure activities where he
focused on regulated utilities, gas storage and broader power
generation.
Prior to this, Daniel was Director of Corporate Finance for the
European Energy and Utilities team at Deutsche Bank with a strong
focus on M&A activity in Europe and a member of Citigroup's
Utilities team.

David joined Impax in February 2007 and oversees the NEF
Investment Team's relations with project lenders. Previously Head
of Project Finance at IXIS Corporate and Investment Bank, he has
over 18 years experience as an adviser or funder to limited
recourse project companies. He acted as adviser and arranger of the
North East Lincolnshire energy-from-waste project in 2006. He was
investment officer of the Asian Mezzanine Infrastructure Fund based
in Singapore between 1997 and 2000 where he structured the
mezzanine funding for the Theun Hinboun hydropower project.
Previously he worked in the successful private equity team,
which is now Doughty Hanson. He is bilingual in French and English
and holds a BSc in Engineering from Reading University.

Joe joined Impax in 2002 and led a number of investments in the
solar and wind sectors for the NEF I portfolio. Previously,
Joe worked in Impax's transaction advisory business where he
contributed to the project financing of the £150 million Allington
energy-from-waste facility, and advised on the Crown Estate's
selection of the UK Round 2 offshore wind lessees. Joe began his
career at Ernst & Young's International Banking and Capital
Markets Group where he trained and qualified as a chartered
accountant, before moving to E&Y's Renewable Energy and Waste
Corporate Finance Group, where he provided advice on M&A,
project financings and capital raisings to a wide range of clients
in the sector.
An engineer and a qualified accountant, Joe received his MEng in
Engineering Science from Pembroke College, Oxford University.
Assistant DirectorRyan CameronView details
- Assistant Director
Ryan joined Impax in January 2006. Ryan specialises in valuation
and risk analysis while supporting investment execution and
managing technical due diligence. Ryan has also worked to develop
relationships with developers across Europe and North America.
Prior to Impax, Ryan worked in the project finance group at
Investec Bank in London, where, for four years, he was involved in
raising senior bank debt and bond finance for sponsors as well as
evaluating principal mezzanine debt opportunities in the New Energy
Sector.
In addition, he advised on equity and subordinated debt
investment structuring in support of private equity sponsors
bidding for infrastructure projects mostly in the UK with assets of
between £40 million and £1 billion. Ryan joined Investec after
working as an analyst in the fixed income division at Goldman Sachs
in London.
He has a BA from McGill University in Canada with majors in both
Economics and Political Science.
Assistant DirectorVictor JuttmannView details
- Assistant Director
Victor joined Impax in August 2008 and is responsible for
portfolio structuring, tax optimisation and other legal and tax
matters relating to NEF funds. In addition, he supports sourcing,
analysis and execution of new investment opportunities and manages
legal diligence. Previously a qualified tax and corporate lawyer at
Dutch law firm De Brauw Blackstone Westbroek in Amsterdam, Victor
has five years experience advising on private equity investment
structures, mergers and acquisitions and financings. He started his
career at the international tax group of Freshfields Bruckhaus
Deringer. Based in the Amsterdam office he specialised in
structured finance and international corporate income tax. Victor
graduated in Dutch commercial law and tax law at Leiden University
in the Netherlands, and received his MBA from IESE Business School
in Barcelona. He is bilingual in English and Dutch and has working
knowledge of German and Spanish.

- Investment Manager
Ben joined Impax in 2009, having previously worked at Consensus
Business Group in London and at Blackrock Investment Management in
London and New York. He has over four years of investment,
renewables and private equity experience. Ben worked on the
acquisition, integration and financings of the wind platforms in
France and Germany. His focus is on analysing new investment
opportunities throughout Europe.
Ben holds a first class honours degree in Physics from the
University of Oxford and a Masters of Research in Nanomaterials
from Imperial College, London where his research was focused on
optimising charge transfer within organic and thin-film solar
cells.
Investment ManagerGeraldo ViganoView details

Geraldo joined Impax in 2011 from Macquarie. At Impax Geraldo
focuses on sourcing, analysing and supporting the execution of new
investments. At Macquaire Geraldo was a member of a team that
focused on management and acquisition of European infrastructure
and renewable energy assets.
Geraldo has a BA in Economics and Management and a Masters of
Finance. Geraldo started his career at Venture Consulting, before
work at the University of New South Wales as a research assistant
in corporate financing and asset pricing.
Engineering ConsultantJim LoweView details
- Engineering Consultant
Jim joined Impax in 2008 to project manage assets in
construction in the NEF portfolio. Jim has extensive energy
experience, having worked on the development, construction and
operations of wind, solar and thermal projects. He has been a
leader in the independent power industry since its emergence in the
early 1980's. Jim has created two wind and solar renewable energy
companies which are active throughout the EU. Prior to this, Jim
led the development of energy projects for General Electric Company
in Europe, launching several new technologies. Jim launched the
independent power business for British Petroleum in Europe in 1995.
While at BP he oversaw their first grass roots development in Great
Yarmouth Power Ltd, and was involved in BP's investment in TNK. In
the 1980's and early 1990's Jim worked at Cogentrix Energy, early
movers in the independent power industry.
While there, Jim led the team from permitting stage through to
project financing and led the creation of a gas fired generation
portfolio of more than 2000MW in size.
Jim received his BSME from Union College and MBA from the
Babcock School at Wake Forest University.
