In 2006, Impax invested in Airtricity, a fast-growing developer and operator in the wind sector. At the time of investment, the company had 177MW of wind power generating assets in operation and a pipeline of 6,645MW across the US, UK and Ireland.
The investment was exited successfully in February 2008, by which time Airtricity had become one of the largest independent wind energy companies in Europe, generating strong returns to investors.
Impax invested in Spanish solar photovoltaic assets in 2007-2008. All of the assets have high quality crystalline silicon modules with a variety of tracking and inverter technologies.
In 2006, Impax made an investment into a portfolio of German wind farms.
In June 2007, Impax acquired shares in a company owning a portfolio of Greek photovoltaic projects in development.
In 2008, Impax acquired shares in a Solar Thermal development project in Greece.

In 2010, Impax acquired a wind energy operations and development business in France and Germany. In 2011, Impax acquired further wind farms in France taking the wind portfolio to 103MW, complementing the previous French investment and offering significant commercial synergy.
In June 2011, Impax signed Purchase Contracts for the acquisition of several solar PV plants in Italy.
In 2010, Impax acquired a wind energy operations and development business in France and Germany. This investment also includes an operating services business with a highly experienced technical team. An add on acquisition was made in 2012 taking the German wind portfolio to 51MW of operating assets, creating critical mass and strategic importance in the German market.
In 2011 Impax bought an operating Polish wind farm, located near the German border.
