Team

Keith was appointed Chairman of Impax Asset Management Group plc in January 2004. After qualifying as a Chartered Accountant in 1979, he joined Martin Currie, the independent Edinburgh-based investment firm. The first part of his career was spent managing portfolios on behalf of institutional clients.

Subsequently, he became the Managing Director of Sales and Marketing. He retired from Martin Currie at the end of 2003 and is now also Chairman of Aberdeen New Thai Investment Trust plc and a number of other companies.

Ian Simm is the Founder and Chief Executive of Impax Asset Management Group plc (IAM). Ian has been responsible for building IAM since launch in 1998, particularly the firm's listed equity and infrastructure teams and investment products. In addition to his role as Chief Executive, Ian heads the firm's investment committees.

Prior to Impax, Ian was an engagement manager at McKinsey & Company in the Netherlands where he led teams to provide advice to clients in a range of environmentally sensitive industries. He has a first class honours degree in physics from Cambridge University and a Master's in Public Administration from Harvard University.

Guy de Froment was appointed Non-Executive Board member in January 2008 and is a member of the Remuneration Committee and the Audit Committee. He was previously Vice Chairman of BNP Paribas Asset Management and joint CEO responsible for Sales and Marketing. From 1997 to 1999, he held the position of Chairman and CEO of Paribas Asset Management. Prior to that he worked for Barclays as Head of Continental European Asset Management, having previously spent 24 years in the Indosuez Group during which time he was Chief Executive of W. I. Carr and CEO of Indosuez Asset Management.Guy is a graduate of the Ecole des Hautes Etudes Commerciales (HEC Paris).

Vince joined the board as a Non-Executive Director in September 2009 and is a member of the Remuneration Committee and the Audit Committee. He is currently a director of Montagu Private Equity and has worked in the private equity industry for over 20 years. Originally qualifying as a Chartered Accountant with Coopers and Lybrand he joined Montagu Private Equity in 1993. Vince is a former Chairman of the BVCA and served on its Council for seven years.

Mark joined the board as a Non-Executive Director in January 2008. He is Chairman of the Audit Committee and is a member of the Remuneration Committee. He is the General Manager of LGT Capital Partners (UK) Ltd following LGT Capital Partners' acquisition of KGR Capital. From 2001 to 2005, he was Chief Executive Officer ("CEO") of JPMorgan Fleming Asset Management (UK) Ltd and was responsible for their institutional business internationally.

Prior to that, he was CEO of Jardine Fleming Asset Management in Hong Kong and CEO of Chase Fleming Asset Management (UK) in London. He is a past Chairman of the Hong Kong Investment Funds Association and the HK SFC Advisory Committee on Unit Trusts. He is a Non-Executive Director of Ellis Brady Absolute Return Fund and F&C Global Smaller Companies plc.

Zack serves as Group General Counsel for Impax Asset Management Group plc and is also Company Secretary. Prior to joining Impax in 2011, Zack was Director & General Counsel for the investment management and corporate finance advisory group Development Capital Management. Previously he was Corporate Counsel for Telewest Global Inc (renamed Virgin Media Inc), where he played a leading role in managing the successful execution of high profile transactions including the Group's $10bn financial restructuring. Zack qualified as a solicitor at the global law firm Norton Rose, specialising in Corporate Finance. He holds a Master of Arts in Jurisprudence from Oxford University.

Charlie has over 20 years technical and management experience with blue chip investment banks. Before joining Impax he was a Managing Director within the Finance Division of Deutsche Bank, most recently serving as UK Asset and Wealth Management CFO, and previously holding various financial and market risk related roles for the Global Markets Division.

Before working at Deutsche, Charlie worked at SG Warburg and Ernst & Young as an Auditor.

Bruce is the Managing Director of the Listed Equity team and oversees Impax's long-only investment strategies. Bruce is responsible for the development of the investment process, research and team development. He also has an active role in the day to day management of all Impax listed equity portfolios. Bruce joined Impax in 1999 where he worked initially on venture capital investments before developing the listed equity business.

Before joining Impax, Bruce worked as a utilities analyst at Bankers Trust and as an environmental consultant for Environmental Resources Management (ERM). Bruce has an MBA from IESE (Barcelona), an MSc in Environmental Technology from Imperial College and a degree in Chemistry from Oxford.

Peter joined Impax in May 2003 and has driven the creation of all elements of the NEF I portfolio whilst heading the Impax NEF team. Peter has been involved in the financing of energy projects since 1983. He started his career with the renewables division of the US Department of Energy in 1980 before working as aide for energy and environment to US Senator Jim Sasser. After working in the natural gas sector in 1984-1985 Peter obtained his credit background as a utility and energy project debt analyst with Standard & Poor's in 1985-1986. He has worked in each tier of the capital structure, having spent three years with the American developer Catalyst Energy and its affiliates developing and financing over 650 MW ($1 billion) of New Energy Sector projects and five years as senior lender to New Energy Sector and other energy projects as Vice President of Project Finance for Mitsui Bank. In the 1990s, Peter was appointed by the US Government to be Senior Investment Adviser to the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development, where he established a private equity fund for environmental infrastructure in Eastern Europe. From 1997-2000 he was Senior Investment Officer of the Asian Mezzanine Infrastructure Fund, a power and infrastructure mezzanine and equity investment fund that made successful investments in the New Energy Sector. Peter is a member of the Cleantech study group of the British Venture Capital Association and a former non-executive director of Coronation Power Limited. He has a BA from Harvard College and a Masters degree from Harvard's Kennedy School of Government, where he studied Utility Regulation and Finance.

Ominder joined Impax in October 2011 as Head of Distribution from Fidelity International where he was Head of UK Institutional Distribution. Ominder previously spent nine years as Director of Institutional Sales at Scottish Widows Investment Partnership, and prior to that, nine years at John Morrell & Associates and Johnson Fry plc (later acquired by Legg Mason).

Kaye joined Impax in May 2011 as Director of HR. She has over 20 years of HR experience and expertise in coaching, talent management, organisational development and business transformation. Kaye previously held the role of HR Director at Legal and General and Sensormatic Ltd before setting up her own consultancy business in 2007.

She has an MA in International HRM and is a Fellow of the Chartered Institute of Personnel and Development

Hubert is the Managing Director of Listed Equities and leads Impax's macro-economic research process. Hubert joined Impax in January 2007 and co-manages the Leaders and Water Strategies. He started his career in the investment industry in 1990. He has extensive experience investing in Pan-European equities as a portfolio manager at MeesPierson and Merrill Lynch Investment Managers, where he chaired the European Sector Strategy Group.

He joined Impax from Cambrian Capital Partners LLP where he was a partner and portfolio manager of the Curalium fund, and Incremental Leveraged hedge funds. Hubert has a Master's degree in Economics and Business Administration from Maastricht University.

Darren has over 13 years' mutual and hedge fund industry experience. Before joining Impax in 2007, Darren had been the Head of Operations at Talisman Global Asset Management a family office with over £1.2 billion of funds under management in Fund of Hedge Funds and Private Equity. Darren was responsible for designing and implementing accounting, operational and performance procedures including systems within the firm. He has also worked for RAB Capital, AXA IM, Mercers and Legal & General in various senior investment, operational and accounting positions. Darren holds a number of professional Operational qualifications by CISI, holds the IMC and is currently CAIA L1.

Michael is responsible for developing the Food and Agriculture investment strategy. He is focused on industry analysis, stock screening, company analysis and portfolio construction. Michael brings with him 32 years' experience advising investors and companies in the food and beverage industry.

He was part of the highly rated food equity analysts team at Investec Securities/Henderson Crosthwaite, subsequently with Rabobank corporate finance, and most recently the manager of the Léman Focus Global Food & Agriculture Fund at Helvetica Wealth Management Partners in Geneva. Michael has a degree in Economics from King's College, Cambridge, and is a Chartered Fellow of the Chartered Securities and Investments Institute, London.

Jon is the Associate Director of the Listed Equity team and has worked at Impax for over twelve years. He co-manages the Specialists Strategy (which includes Impax's flagship fund, Impax Environmental Markets plc) with Bruce Jenkyn-Jones. Jon has over 18 years of investment experience working with both private and quoted companies. Following his graduation from Leeds University in Management Studies, he spent four years working on acquisitions at HSBC Investment Bank. Subsequently, he spent two years as a consultant to venture capital investor Alchemy Partners with particular focus on manufacturing and resource management companies before joining Impax in 2000.

Since joining Impax in June 2008, Lee has taken a lead role in the research coverage of the Impax universe, in addition to contributing to portfolio construction and management across all the listed equity strategies. Lee has 13 years investment experience, 8 of which has been specialised in the environmental sector. Prior to joining he was a venture capital investment manager at Nomura and WHEB Ventures, making investments in multiple clean technology companies in Europe and the US.

Previously he was a corporate strategist at Lehman Brothers working with senior management on the bank's European strategic growth plans. He has a BSc in Physics from Imperial College. 

Simon has worked at Impax since 2004 and co-manages the Leaders and Water Strategies, as well as selected clients' SRI/ESG products. Simon joined Impax from Veolia (formerly Vivendi) Environment, where he was a Financial Analyst. His responsibilities included the analysis and modeling of potential investments and financing issues on the part of the Group's water businesses.

Simon began his career in Investment Banking in 1998 at NM Rothschild and subsequently moved to Deutsche Bank where he provided strategic, M&A and financing advice to European and US clients across a broad range of industrial sub-sectors. He has an honours degree in Modern Languages from the University of Bristol.

Simon is responsible for developing the investment infrastructure for the Food and Agriculture investment strategy. He is also focused on the wider investment platform at Impax, working alongside the portfolio managers/analysts on modelling, screening and portfolio construction.

Simon has worked in the financial sector for 22 years having previously worked at Helvetica Wealth Management Partners in Geneva, Jura Capital LLP, a London based hedge fund, Lazard Asset Management and Crown Financial where he trained as an actuary. Simon holds an MSc in Computational and Numerical Mathematics from Imperial College, London, and a first class honours degree in Mathematics from Liverpool University.

David co-manages Impax's Asia-Pacific Strategy portfolios. Based in Hong Kong, David is also Impax's lead analyst for Greater China including Taiwan and Singapore. David Li has worked for Impax since 2007, initially on secondment from Ajia Partners before becoming a full-time Impax employee in 2011. He has 17 years of experience in the investment industry.

Previously, he was the Head of Small and Mid Cap Research for Asia ex-Japan at Deutsche Bank Securities, and Head of Regional Media Research at ING Securities. David also has experience in auditing and is a qualified CPA and CFA. David graduated from the University of New South Wales in Australia with majors in Accounting and Finance.

Kirsteen co-manages Impax's Asia-Pacific portfolios.  She is also Impax's lead analyst for lndia, Korea and Japan. Kirsteen joined Impax in 2009. She started her career in the investment industry in 1987. She has extensive experience investing in Asian equities as a portfolio manager at Royal London and Henderson Global Investors. She returned from Singapore in 2001 to head the SRI Investment team at Henderson Global Investors.

Subsequently, Kirsteen worked as a Financial analyst for Odey Asset Management before joining JP Morgan to run a long / short Asian Financials portfolio for the internal hedge fund. Kirsteen has an MBA in Metallurgy and Science of Materials from Oxford. 

Since joining Impax in July 2009 Justin has taken a lead role in researching the investable universe of stocks across Impax's listed equity strategies. Justin joined Impax having worked in renewable energy research at New Energy Finance. Prior to moving into the renewable energy sector he worked as an investment analyst for Australian boutique manager Hunter Hall, covering global equities from their London and Sydney offices.

He has a Bachelor of Engineering from the University of Queensland and a Masters of Commerce from the University of Sydney.

Lisa joined Impax in 2010 and is responsible for environmental policy and legislation investment research and non-financial or Environment, Social and Governance (ESG) analysis. She started working in the financial industry in 1999 and previously worked as Executive Director in the Investment Management Division of Goldman Sachs International. Lisa has also worked as an independent consultant focusing on environmental policy research and analysis. She is a Trustee at the International Institute of Environment and Development ("IIED"). Lisa has an MSc in Environment and Development from the London School of Economics and an MSc in Finance from the Hanken School of Economics in Finland.

Oscar joined Impax in 2011 as an analyst focusing on Asia-Pacific research. Based in Hong Kong, Oscar has 5 years experience in the financial industry and environmental markets. He previously worked at Origo Partners as an investment associate and assistant fund manager, and prior to that at Midas Holdings. He has an MSc from the London School of Economics.

Agne's role involves supporting the fund management team with research on the investment universe across all the listed equity strategies. Agne joined Impax after graduating from the University of Warwick with a BSc in Economics.  During this time, Agne also completed work experience for The Bank of New York Mellon and AMP Capital Investors.

Dean joined Impax in 2009 and manages the Trading Desk. Prior to joining Impax Dean worked at Westpac Institutional Bank as a market-maker and proprietary trader.

Dean started his career in 1993 and has worked at Fidelity Investments as an FX trader, managing currency risk on equity and fixed income funds, and for Barclays and Lehman Brothers in fixed income and other market related roles. Dean is a qualified Technical Analyst (STA).

Joe joined Impax in 2002 and led a number of investments in the solar and wind sectors for the NEF I portfolio.  Previously, Joe worked in Impax's transaction advisory business where he contributed to the project financing of the £150 million Allington energy-from-waste facility, and advised on the Crown Estate's selection of the UK Round 2 offshore wind lessees. Joe began his career at Ernst & Young's International Banking and Capital Markets Group where he trained and qualified as a chartered accountant, before moving to E&Y's Renewable Energy and Waste Corporate Finance Group, where he provided advice on M&A, project financings and capital raisings to a wide range of clients in the sector.

An engineer and a qualified accountant, Joe received his MEng in Engineering Science from Pembroke College, Oxford University.

David joined Impax in February 2007 and oversees the NEF Investment Team's relations with project lenders. Previously Head of Project Finance at IXIS Corporate and Investment Bank, he has over 18 years experience as an adviser or funder to limited recourse project companies. He acted as adviser and arranger of the North East Lincolnshire energy-from-waste project in 2006. He was investment officer of the Asian Mezzanine Infrastructure Fund based in Singapore between 1997 and 2000 where he structured the mezzanine funding for the Theun Hinboun hydropower project.

Previously he worked in the successful private equity team, which is now Doughty Hanson. He is bilingual in French and English and holds a BSc in Engineering from Reading University. 

Jason has 14 years investment banking and infrastructure fund experience covering the renewables, regulated utilities, energy infrastructure and PPP sectors. Prior to joining Impax, Jason worked for seven years at Macquarie, where he played key leadership roles in the execution of acquisitions, financings and restructures involving European utility and renewable energy companies. Subsequently he worked on a number of acquisition and refinancing matters with London based fund managers such as Wheb Infrastructure Partners and Infrared. Jason qualified as a Chartered Accountant and has a Bachelor of Commerce degree from Monash University in Australia.

Jim joined Impax in 2008 to project manage assets in construction in the NEF portfolio. Jim has extensive energy experience, having worked on the development, construction and operations of wind, solar and thermal projects. He has been a leader in the independent power industry since its emergence in the early 1980's. Jim has created two wind and solar renewable energy companies which are active throughout the EU. Prior to this, Jim led the development of energy projects for General Electric Company in Europe, launching several new technologies. Jim launched the independent power business for British Petroleum in Europe in 1995. While at BP he oversaw their first grass roots development in Great Yarmouth Power Ltd, and was involved in BP's investment in TNK. In the 1980's and early 1990's Jim worked at Cogentrix Energy, early movers in the independent power industry.

While there, Jim led the team from permitting stage through to project financing and led the creation of a gas fired generation portfolio of more than 2000MW in size. 

Jim received his BSME from Union College and MBA from the Babcock School at Wake Forest University.

Ryan joined Impax in January 2006. Ryan specialises in valuation and risk analysis while supporting investment execution and managing technical due diligence. Ryan has also worked to develop relationships with developers across Europe and North America.

Prior to Impax, Ryan worked in the project finance group at Investec Bank in London, where, for four years, he was involved in raising senior bank debt and bond finance for sponsors as well as evaluating principal mezzanine debt opportunities in the New Energy Sector.

In addition, he advised on equity and subordinated debt investment structuring in support of private equity sponsors bidding for infrastructure projects mostly in the UK with assets of between £40 million and £1 billion. Ryan joined Investec after working as an analyst in the fixed income division at Goldman Sachs in London.

He has a BA from McGill University in Canada with majors in both Economics and Political Science.

Victor joined Impax in August 2008 and is responsible for portfolio structuring, tax optimisation and other legal and tax matters relating to NEF funds. In addition, he supports sourcing, analysis and execution of new investment opportunities and manages legal diligence. Previously a qualified tax and corporate lawyer at Dutch law firm De Brauw Blackstone Westbroek in Amsterdam, Victor has five years experience advising on private equity investment structures, mergers and acquisitions and financings. He started his career at the international tax group of Freshfields Bruckhaus Deringer. Based in the Amsterdam office he specialised in structured finance and international corporate income tax. Victor graduated in Dutch commercial law and tax law at Leiden University in the Netherlands, and received his MBA from IESE Business School in Barcelona. He is bilingual in English and Dutch and has working knowledge of German and Spanish.

Ben joined Impax in 2009, having previously worked at Consensus Business Group in London and at Blackrock Investment Management in London and New York. He has over four years of investment, renewables and private equity experience. Ben worked on the acquisition, integration and financings of the wind platforms in France and Germany. His focus is on analysing new investment opportunities throughout Europe.

Ben holds a first class honours degree in Physics from the University of Oxford and a Masters of Research in Nanomaterials from Imperial College, London where his research was focused on optimising charge transfer within organic and thin-film solar cells.

Geraldo joined Impax in 2011 from Macquarie. At Impax Geraldo focuses on sourcing, analysing and supporting the execution of new investments. At Macquaire Geraldo was a member of a team that focused on management and acquisition of European infrastructure and renewable energy assets.

Geraldo has a BA in Economics and Management and a Masters of Finance. Geraldo started his career at Venture Consulting, before work at the University of New South Wales as a research assistant in corporate financing and asset pricing.

Rhiann joined Impax in 2009, having previously worked as a Financial Controller for the Asset Management division of the Renewable Energy Funds managed by Platina Partners. She has over 9 years of accounting expertise and six years of investment, renewables and private equity experience. Rhiann works within the Asset Management team, which oversees the wind and solar investments made by the Impax New Energy Investors I and II Funds, having started at Impax working within the Finance department.

Rhiann holds a first class honours degree in Business from the Bournemouth University and is a Chartered Accountant.

David is the Head of Institutional Sales and Client Service for North America. David joined Impax in August 2012 from Global Energy Investors where he was a Managing Partner. He previously co-founded and served for 22 years as Managing Director of Business Development at Dwight Asset Management Company (later acquired by Goldman Sachs Asset Management). Prior to Dwight, David headed Project Development at Mark Technologies Corporation and successfully developed a number of large scale wind energy projects. David received his BS in Mechanical Engineering from the University of California and is licensed as a Civil Engineer.

Ken is a Managing Director for Impax Asset Management (US) LLC. He is the US Policy Advisor, responsible for supporting the investment team and helping build Impax's business in North America. Ken has 30 years of finance experience and a 20 year commitment to clean energy enterprise investment, development, management and finance. Before joining Impax, Ken worked as the Director of Finance and Investment with the Clean Energy Group (CEG) and worked with NGO Ceres to advise the Investor Network on Climate Risk. Prior to this he acted as a founding member of the Massachusetts Green Energy Fund management team and was a Partner at EIF Group. Ken is a founding Co-Chair of the Finance Committee of the American Council on Renewable Energy (ACORE), the leading US renewable energy umbrella organization. He is a graduate of Yale University.

Stephen joined Impax in 2013 as Head of Wholesale Distribution. He is responsible for expanding Impax's business with family offices, distributors and discretionary wealth managers. Stephen joined from DWS Investments where he was Head of UK Wholesale Sales. Prior to this he worked at Julius Baer, Threadneedle Investments, Orbitex Investment Management and Old Mutual International.

Adrian joined Impax in 2004, after completing an MSc in Environmental Technology at Imperial College, in which he specialised in business & the environment. Prior to that he was a stockbroker, selling Pan-European equities to institutions at Robert Fleming and JP Morgan. He has a BA in Archaeology from Bristol University.

Anne joined joined Impax in 2012.  She previously ran her own freelance communications business and undertook varied assignments for financial services businesses including a long term media relations contract at F&C Asset Management.  She was Head of Communications at GAM between 2004 - 2009 and has also worked in communications roles for the biotech firm Vernalis plc and in investment banking at UBS and Salomon Brothers.

Natalie joined Impax in 2010 as Global Marketing Manager, responsible for Impax's marketing activities. She has 8 years experience, having previously worked in marketing and investor relations roles at Osmosis Investments and New Star Asset Management, and prior to that she worked at Man Financial. She has a BA (hons) degree from Oxford Brookes University.
